My inspiration came about in the form of a tragedy. The initial gowns I was planning on displaying were ruined, courtesy of a thirsty model and a 20oz Gatorade. After calming down the model, who was genuinely upset and very apologetic and knowing I didn’t have enough time to get the garments cleaned I quickly started formulating two new pieces. The new pieces would naturally have the same concepts as my first garments. I’ve been working with volume and draping shapes and I started off draping those pieces first. I started working this concept because I wanted to take something from the 80’s like volume on the sleeves/bottoms and represent it in a more current 2010 version. Through my eyes this style and concept represents retro glam. Although I was initially crushed after the Gatorade incident ultimately something good has come from it. I am left with two designs that I’m very happy with. First we have a taffeta evening gown with hand beadwork on the corset. Second showing is a two piece outfit, blouse is charmuse front and chiffon back with hand beadwork on it. Mini skirt is made of taffeta. My entire line consists of these fabrics and different color pallets that coordinate. These designs are for black tie occasions, separates for club wear, and cocktail parties.
